designed for the Everson museum lecture hall. This space had limited depth and staging possibilities. With it’s 44’w x 24’h white backwallI decided to use projections and also wanted to utilize the students at Syracuse University’s graduate illustration program. I’m a proponent of“paying it forward” and wanted to give students real world opportunities, much like the ones I was given in school.
Music Theatre of Connecticut- Almost Maine. 2012 A play with a cinematic structure that requires you to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. For this design I used real barn wood to create a barn facade where the sliding barn doors revealed the scene when open. This wasset up in a small theatre. To acheive the desired look I had to focus the projector into a mirror and bounce the image onto the rear projection surface.Scenic Design & Technical Direction by Scott Holdredge
Manlius Pebble Hills- Seussical Jr. 2015 Middle School play, based on the world of Seuss within a nightclub concept.Scenic and Lighting Design & Technical Direction by Scott Holdredge
I used projections to emphasize and reinforce the scenes, also utilizing the original Dr. Seuss artwork as an homage.
